Did You Know?

Mammograms and breast screenings help identify breast cancer before there are symptoms or at a very early stage, when the chances for successful treatment are highest.

Breast cancer treatment involves a team of specialists working together.

Two genes – BRCA1 and BRCA2 – are widely recognized for their link to breast and ovarian cancer. But there are many other genes that can play a part in cancer risk. Genetic counseling can help women consider what genetic testing options are best for them.

Researchers have discovered 11 breast cancer types that are unique in their biology and patient outcomes. The new information could help doctors determine which patients are at the highest risk for recurrence and who could benefit from novel targeted therapies.

Simmons Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in North Texas. This means we deliver the best cancer care available today and push to discover new treatments. We offer mammograms and other early detection techniques as well as breast cancer care in Dallas, Richardson/Plano, and Fort Worth.
