Mavs guard Wayne Ellington visited with students at Raul Quintanilla Sr. Middle School in DISD to tipoff the Mavs Academic All-Stars program, presented by Flowserve, which recognizes elementary and middle school students for either their exceptional grades in the classroom or for making significant improvements from one grading period to the next.
Ellington spoke to the kids about the importance of getting an education, having good attendance in school, reading at home and completing their homework. He shared a story about how he had to make sure he got top grades in order to get into a competitive private school and explained how his success in school advanced his opportunities to play basketball.
30 deserving students from the Metroplex will be selected as Academic All-Stars, win Mavs prizes and get recognized on-court during a Mavs home game!
