When Luka Dončić hopscotched his way to the locker room after the Mavs fell in Game 3 to the Clippers — a cloud of darkness descended on the team. It seemed unlikely that his left ankle would be ready to go less than 40 hours after sustaining a mild ankle sprain.

Then Dončić did the impossible.

The sophomore sensation from Slovenia powered the Mavericks back from a 21-point deficit in the second quarter behind a triple-double performance with a step-back 3-pointer at the buzzer to seal the Dallas victory, 135-133, in overtime. The cold-blooded shot was masterful and capped a 43-point, 17-rebound, 13-assist triple-double performance for Dončić against a Clippers team that is a true title contender.

Within seconds after the game, Dončić’s name was trending worldwide and continued through Monday.
