Tyrell Terry was born Sep. 28, 2000. He played high school basketball for DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Terry led DeLaSalle to three Class 3A state titles as a freshman, sophomore and senior. The guard was named a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Basketball award during his senior campaign. In 2018, he played for the United States at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament, which is a U18 tournament in Germany. In college at Stanford, the 6-foot-2 Terry was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. After his freshman season, Terry declared himself eligible for the 2020 NBA Draft. Terry (6-2, 175) was selected 31st overall by Dallas after spending one season at Stanford. He appeared in 11 games for the Mavs during his rookie season. He started all 31 games in which appeared for the Cardinal, averaging 14.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 44.1% (147-333 FG) from the field, 40.8% (61-152 3FG) from beyond the arc and 89.1% (98-110 FT) from the foul line.
The Minneapolis native garnered Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honors last season and his 14.6 ppg marked the second-highest scoring average by a Stanford freshman in school history.
