Members of the Dallas Mavericks entertainment teams brought joy and laughter to kids this week at an area hospital. The event was meant to coincide with Valentine’s Day as the franchise aimed to “spread the love” to children who are facing a sensitive time in their lives.

The Mavs ManiAACs, D-Town Crew and MavsMan all joined in on the festivities at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Summer Moon, Vice President of Human Resources at ShiftKey, also attended. The group did a Seacrest Studios visit, participated in arts and crafts with the youth and made individual room visits.

ShiftKey signed a deal with the Mavs over the summer and the two companies have focused on making a meaningful difference in North Texas. Community outreach is key to both organizations.

“We both share a calling to do good in the community, directly impacting those in need, especially single mothers and frontline workers,” said Dallas Mavs CEO Cynt Marshall.

Back in December, Dallas Mavericks players Josh Green and Dwight Powell did hospital visits at Children’s Dallas. Hospital organizers said it was the largest turnout of the year, crediting the youths’ love for the Mavs.

This week’s visit was similar to that one; the entertainment teams started their journey in a live studio that broadcasts the session to all the patients in their rooms. From there, the Mavs entertainers visited individual rooms and brought goodies to all the patients.

The members of the ManiAACs to participate included Ben Perkins and JJ Tarno. Both have been members of the ManiAACs for over a decade. This is Perkins’ 15th NBA season and Tarno’s 11th season, respectively.

Meanwhile, the D-Town Crew members included Hunter Blackwell, who is currently enjoying her third NBA season, and Jenna Lowry, who is embarking on season two.

“Something I love about being a member of the Dallas Mavericks D-Town Crew is the opportunity to give back and spend time in the community,” Lowry said. “It is always rewarding to interact with others, put a smile on their faces, and positively influence their day. That’s truly what it’s all about!”

Lowry shared how the afternoon was filled with lots of love and laughter.

“[It was] a memorable experience for the children, families, and myself, as we interacted and shared stories,” Lowry said. “A young boy there was playing Fortnite, something I previously knew nothing about, and informed me that you need to be the last man standing to win. You learn something new every day! These experiences are ones that I hold dear to my heart, and I’m grateful that this organization affords the opportunity for us members of the entertainment teams to pour into the lives of others.”
