Today, the Dallas Mavericks announced the five local DFW recipients of the Mavs College Scholarship, a 4-year scholarship and mentoring experience.

Each student will receive up to $25,000 annually towards their college education, totaling $125,000 in scholarships per year, for a $500,000 commitment overall. As part of the Mavs Take ACTION! plan, the Mavs selected five DFW students who showed financial need and excelled in school despite setbacks and challenges faced to receive a scholarship. This year’s scholarship recipients have shown their commitment to education and continuous passion for pursuing success at the highest level.

“It is an honor to award these students with funds to further their education,” Mavs CEO Cynt Marshall said. “Our children are our future and here at the Dallas Mavericks we will continue to invest in enriching the lives of our youth and securing their future.”

The commitment from the Mavericks goes beyond a one-time financial investment.  Mavs College Scholarship recipients will receive on-going mentoring from Mavs staff and opportunities for Mavs summer jobs, potential internships or other work experience.

Recipients were nominated by local community partners including: Big Thought, Café Momentum, Education is Freedom, For Oak Cliff, Girls Inc., Paul Quinn College, UNT Dallas/Trio Program and Young Women’s Preparatory Network.

Congratulations to the Mavs College Scholarship recipients:
