JUN. 24, 2022 (DALLAS) – Today’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade marks the first time in the history of the United States that the Supreme Court has taken away a constitutional right. Tens of millions of women will lose access to the fundamental freedoms afforded to them by the liberties upon which this country was founded. Eliminating the choice to a legal abortion now places the responsibility on the states to ensure women their right to choose.

As female Texans, we are granted fewer freedoms than those in most other states. Texas women who face countless barriers, such as lack of funds, will be unable to travel for safe and legal healthcare and will likely be forced to carry pregnancies to term against their will, or break the law.

While our hearts are broken, our vision remains steadfast. We have worked tirelessly at the Dallas Mavericks over the past four years to further the women’s agenda and will continue to fight for women’s rights and equality for all.
