About the Mavericks: The Mavs will attempt to close out this short two-game homestand on a positive note. After tonight’s game, the Mavs will hit the road to play a pair of huge games in Portland – on Friday and Sunday – before ending the three-game road trip in Minnesota on March 24. . .Dallas began this homestand on Monday with a disappointing 109-99 loss to the Clippers. The Mavs were only trailing, 103-99, with 3:15 remaining, but got outscored 6-0 the rest of the game. . .Luka Doncic (25 points, 10 rebounds, 16 assists) registered his ninth triple-double of the season in the loss to the Clippers, Kristaps Porzingis collected 22 points and seven boards, and Tim Hardaway Jr. was 5-of-9 from behind the 3-point arc and finished with 21 points. It was the 34th triple-double of Doncic’s brilliant career and moved him into 11th place on the NBA’s all-time list. Doncic has three games of 25 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists this season. The rest of the NBA? They’ve combined to produce only one such game this season. . .The Mavs were just 4-of-5 from the free throw line in the game against the Clippers. That ties their franchise record for the fewest amount of free throws the Mavs have ever attempted in a game.

About the Clippers: Kawhi Leonard finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals to lead the Clippers to a 109-99 victory over the Mavs on Monday. Also in that game, Ivica Zubac (15 points, 11 rebounds), Paul George (15 points, seven boards), Marcus Morris Sr. (14 points, six rebounds), Lou Williams (14 points), Nicolas Batum (12 points, 4-of-6 from 3-point range) and Reggie Jackson (12 points) led a very balanced Clippers’ offensive attack. . .The Clippers had their way on the offensive end of the floor on Monday as they shot 50 percent from the field (43-of-86) and 43.8 percent from 3-point land (14-of-32). . .In addition in Monday’s game, the Clippers also out-rebounded the Mavs by a sizeable 46-33 margin. . .The win helped the Clippers avenge an embarrassing 124-73 loss at home to the Mavs that occurred on Dec. 27. . .This is the finale of a three-game road trip for the Clippers, who lost at New Orleans (135-115) on Sunday before bouncing back to upend the Mavs on Monday. . .Following tonight’s game, the Clippers return home to host the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday and the Atlanta Hawks on Monday before playing games on back-to-back days in San Antonio on March 24-25.
