“So you’re telling me there’s a chance.”

Maybe we’re just being Dumb and Dumber with this line of thought, but the Mavericks got the help they needed on Tuesday night when Golden State rallied for a 136-125 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

That was the first item on a combination plate of help that the Mavericks need to make the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.

So let’s dream big and beat the odds.

The Thunder’s loss means the Mavericks are only a half-game behind them for 10th place in the West. They now need just one more win than the Thunder in the season’s final five days to extend their season for at least one more game.

Item No. 2 that could make things really interesting comes Wednesday night when the Mavericks play Sacramento at American Airlines Center.

Here’s the updated race for spots four through 12 in the Western Conference, with games-behind and each team’s remaining schedule.
