Dallas – On Tuesday, Nov. 26th from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., Mavs players DeJuan Blair, Jae Crowder and Bernard James, along with Albertsons, will hand out 150 turkeys that have been generously purchased by Blair, plus sides to families in need at Buckner Children’s Home (5200 S. Buckner Blvd., Dallas, TX 75227). This event is not open to the public, but media is invited to attend.

“I’m honored to be able to help these families have a wonderful meal on Thanksgiving,” said Mavs Center/Forward DeJuan Blair. “I wanted to do something to give back to my new community and it means a great deal to me to know these families will not have to worry about what food will be on their table and can just enjoy the holiday.”

“We know it takes passionate people and organizations to help make positive changes, and for us be able to partner with the Dallas Mavericks organization on this cause is a great honor,” said Mike Withers, president of the Southern division of Albertsons. “We’ve seen a significant change in the face of hunger over the last few years, and it’s been devastating to so many families. I’m grateful to the players for stepping up to help those in need.”

This is the fourth year that the Mavs have partnered with Buckner International to hand out Thanksgiving meals and the second year that the club has partnered with Albertsons.

“We are truly grateful for Mr. Blair and the Dallas Mavericks, along with Albertsons, for taking time out of their holiday schedules to personally provide Buckner families with a traditional Thanksgiving meal,” said Albert Reyes, president and CEO of Buckner International. “Their generosity makes it possible for the children and families we serve to be able to relax and focus on what really matters this Thanksgiving.”

Special thanks to Albertsons Market for donating the sides. Each family will receive two cans of green beans and corn, butter potatoes, stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce, canned pumpkins, mini marshmallows and cake mix and frosting.
