ORLANDO MAGIC (1-5) at DALLAS MAVERICKS (2-3)

When: 6:30 p.m., Sunday.

Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas.

TV: Bally’s Sports Southwest.

Radio: 97.1 The Freak, 99.1 FM Zona MX (Spanish).

What you need to know: The Magic lost their first five games, but are coming off a nice 113-93 home win over Charlotte . . . The best thing you can say about the Magic so far is that they appear to have found a genuine superstar in the making in rookie Paolo Banchero. The No. 1 overall draft pick is averaging 23.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists through six games. But beyond Banchero, the Magic have had trouble scoring. They are 27th in the league in points scored per game at under 106 and next-to-last in 3-point shooting at 29.4 percent, ahead of only the woeful Los Angeles Lakers . . . The Mavericks are on a five-game home stand that did not start off well. They had a 16-point lead with 4:14 left in the fourth quarter, but blew it and lost in overtime to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night 117-111. To say it was an ugly loss would be a huge understatement. The Thunder didn’t have top draftee Chet Holmgren nor rising star Josh Giddey, both of whom were out with injury . . . The Mavericks now have a quick turnaround of less than 20 hours from the end of Saturday’s game to tipoff against the Magic. Orlando, meanwhile, was in town relaxing on Saturday night . . . Hopefully, the Mavericks can regain their shooting eye. They hit just 20 percent from the 3-point arc on Saturday (8-for-40) . . . Jason Kidd clearly has been tinkering with lineups early in the season, both early in games and late in crunch time. The results have been mixed thus far as the Mavericks are 1-3 in games that have come down to the wire . . . Dallas has been poison for the Magic. They have lost 10 consecutive visits to AAC and 19 of the last 22 times they’ve visited . . . The Magic started this season with an average age of 23.94 years, the fourth-youngest roster in the league . . . Opponents are shooting only 43.7 percent against the Magic, eighth-best mark in the league.
