About the Mavs: This is the third game of a four-game homestand for the Mavs, who will conclude this run with Friday’s game against Cleveland before they hit the road to play at Houston on Sunday. . .The Mavs opened the homestand by defeating the defending world champion Toronto Raptors last Saturday, 110-102. In that game Luka Doncic (26 points, 15 rebounds) and Kristaps Porzingis (20 points, 15 rebounds) became the first pair of Mavs to collect at least 20 points and 15 rebounds in the same game . .The Mavs won again on Monday when they upended the San Antonio Spurs, 117-110. Doncic registered his NBA-leading sixth triple-double of the season in that contest as he finished with a career-high 42 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. Also, Dorian Finney-Smith poured in a career-high 22 points against the Spurs. . .The Mavs are 81-78 all-time against the Warriors, including a 47-32 record during games played in Dallas.
About the Warriors: After playing in the last five NBA Finals, the Warriors are in the midst of some hard times. So hard that, primarily because they’ve been decimated by injuries to key personnel, the Warriors have the worst record in the entire NBA. Stephen Curry (fractured left hand), Klay Thompson (left ACL surgery), D’Angelo Russell (sprained right thumb) and Kevon Looney (nerve condition) are all on the mend for the Warriors. . .The Warriors broke a seven-game losing streak by winning in Memphis on Tuesday, 114-95. Alec Burks tallied a season-high 29 points and Glenn Robinson III added 20 points in that game. . .Golden State had six players grab at least six rebounds against the Grizzlies and wound up winning that battle, 51-37. . .Eric Paschall (16.7 ppg), Burks (13.5 ppg), Robinson (10.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and Damion Lee (10 ppg) are the healthy Warriors who are carrying the load at this moment. Also, the Warriors have been relying on forward Draymond Green (8.8 pg, 7.2 rpg) for veteran leadership.
