MAVERICKS SIGN DAKOTA MATHIAS

DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed free agent guard Dakota Mathias. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mathias (6-4, 200) went undrafted in 2018 after a four-year college career at Purdue, where he finished as the school’s all-time leader in games played (141) and 3-pointers made (250). He was also a two-time Big Ten All-Defensive Team selection (2017, 2018).

As a senior in 2017-18, Mathias started all 37 games and averaged 12.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game for a Boilermakers squad that went 30–7.

After competing for the Cavaliers at the 2018 NBA Summer League, Mathias signed with Spain’s Divina Seguros Joventut. He averaged 8.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in 12 games for Joventut in 2018-19, before being released due to an ankle injury.

The Elida, Ohio, native played for the Lakers’ summer league team in 2019, averaging 5.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 19.6 minutes per game in five games (two starts).
