DALLAS MAVERICKS AND CHIME ANNOUNCE ‘CHIME IN FOR A CAUSE’
The Dallas Mavericks, Mavs Foundation and Chime to donate $500 for every free throw made

JULY 31, 2020 (DALLAS, TX) –
The Dallas Mavericks, Mavs Foundation and Chime, the leader in U.S. Challenger banking and the Mavericks’ official Jersey Patch sponsor, have launched Chime in for a Cause, a new initiative that will use the NBA relaunch to raise funds and awareness for eight local charities. As part of the Mavs’ and Chime’s on-going efforts to address social injustice, racial inequities and financial literacy, a $500 donation will be made to a local Mavs Foundation charity for each free throw the Mavs make during each seeding game night.

“We have a longstanding history of making a difference for others and this initiative is just another big way the Mavs organization is stepping up,” said Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall. “Our players have been outstanding free throw shooters and we can’t wait to see how much money we can donate each night. Get ready, I’m hoping for really big checks for these amazing non-profits.”

The eight Mavs Foundation charities Chime In for a Cause will assist are Boys and Girls Club of Dallas, Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, Lemonade Day Greater Dallas, Education Opens Doors, Dallas Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation, Promise House, Project Unity and WiNGS. Among many other efforts, money donated through the initiative will provide support towards financial education, business skill building, breaking the cycle of poverty and addressing the historic and contemporary effects of racism.

Every time a Mavs player steps up to the “Charity Stripe,” each bucket made will count towards money raised for that night. Specifically, $250 per shot will be donated from the Mavs, which is then matched by Chime, totaling $500 per free throw made. MFFLs will also have the opportunity to ‘Chime In for a Cause’. Fans at home can use their homecourt advantage each game by making personal donations here: Mavs.com/ChimeIn.

Participants that donate $20 or more to the Mavs Foundation will be entered into a sweepstakes with the grand prize winner receiving an Equality Jersey signed by Seth Curry, Luka Dončić, Dorian Finney-Smith, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kristaps Porziņģis.  A second-place winner will receive a 2019-2020 team-signed basketball and 100 additional winners will receive a custom Dallas Mavericks Equality jersey in their size and with the player name/number of their choice.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Mavs on this important initiative,” said Melissa Alvarado, Chime CMO. “At Chime we believe in “banking that has your back” and that applies to everyone. We are committed to supporting financial literacy and fighting social injustice and racial inequalities, which is why we are so excited to Chime in for a Cause.”
