Mavericks at Cleveland Cavaliers

TV: Bally Sports Southwest +

Radio: ESPN 103.3 FM (Univision 1270 AM, Spanish)

About the Mavericks (39-28): It’s the seldom-seen home-and-home set of games with an Eastern Conference opponent. The Mavericks took care of the youthful Cavaliers in the front-end game, 110-90 on Friday at American Airlines Center . . . They have won five consecutive games against the Cavaliers, including the last two at Cleveland. The margin of victory in the last three games between the teams has been 42, 20 and 20 points . . . Here’s the breakdown of what they need to clinch spots in the standings: Their magic number to clinch the sixth playoff spot is three (any combination of Mavs’ wins or Lakers’ losses). Their number to clinch the five seed is five (Mavs’ wins or Portland losses, going into the Blazers’ Saturday game against San Antonio) . . . The Mavericks now have won three in a row, six of seven and nine of their last 11 games. The only team they’ve lost to since April 17 is Sacramento (three times) . . . Dwight Powell has filled in nicely while getting more playing time for the injured Kristaps Porzingis. In the last five games, Powell has averaged 10.2 points and 6.8 rebounds and is shooting 80 percent from the field . . . Porzingis hopes to return from right knee soreness before the end of the season. Coach Rick Carlisle has said he remains day to day . . . Maxi Kleber has missed the last three games with an Achilles issue. The Mavericks are being cautious with him and he is questionable for returning against the Cavaliers.

About the Cavaliers (21-46): Their rebuilding effort since LeBron James left (the second time) is centered on guards Collin Sexton and Darius Garland, plus center and former Texas Longhorn Jarret Allen. All of them are 22 or younger . . . Garland is one of a long list of Cavs who are battling injuries. He’s missed the last four games with an ankle injury. Joining him in the MASH unit: Taurean Prince (ankle) and Matthew Dellavedova (neck), both of whom are out for the season; Larry Nance (thumb) is also out . . . On the bright side, veteran big man Kevin Love could return after missing Friday’s game in Dallas . . . Hard to believe, but the Cavaliers once were 10-11 before they lost 10 games in a row and have gone downhill since . . . Sexton had 27 points in Friday’s game, and Cedi Osman had 22. Those were two of the few bright spots for the Cavaliers . . . The Cavs are next-to-last in the NBA in 3-point shooting at a shade under 34 percent. That showed through on Friday as they hit just 20.7 percent from beyond the arc (6-of-29) . . . Former Texas Longhorn Jarrett Allen was acquired from Brooklyn in midseason. He had a dozen rebounds in Friday’s game against the Mavericks.
