DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks announced their roster for MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2017 today, headlined by 2017 first-round draft pick Dennis Smith Jr., who will join returning Mavericks Yogi Ferrell, Dorian Finney-Smith, Nicolas Brussino and A.J. Hammons, for a tournament-style slate of games played in Las Vegas beginning on July 8.
For the fifth straight year, teams will compete in a playoff-style schedule that will crown an NBA Summer League Champion on Monday, July 17. Last year, the 11-day, 67-game league set records for total attendance, single-day attendance, combined viewership across ESPN and NBA TV, and NBA social media.
The Mavericks will open the preliminary round against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, July 8 at 3:30 p.m. CT. They will then face the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, July 9, and the Miami Heat on Tuesday, July 11, before being seeded in a tournament that concludes with the Championship Game on July 17. Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.
All games will be held at the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. ESPN will carry Dallas’ matchup with Phoenix on July 9, and NBA TV will televise the Mavericks’ games against Chicago and Miami on July 8 and 11. TXA 21 will air all three of the Mavericks’ currently scheduled games.
The Mavericks will be spending their 12th summer in Las Vegas. Mavericks assistant coach Jamahl Mosley will serve as the head coach of Dallas’ summer league squad for the second consecutive year. Before the team makes the trip to Las Vegas, a mini camp will be held at the Mavericks’ practice facility in Dallas from July 5-7.
