A chance to play for an NBA team is going to come true for one generous, charitable and lucky individual, thanks to Mark Cuban.
The Mavericks owner on Tuesday announced that he is donating a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a Mavericks’ player for a day to a person who contributes to the All-In Challenge powered by Fanatics.
On Tuesday afternoon, Cuban posted his video on the All-In Challenge website and Twitter, which said:
“I accept the All-In Challenge. Now, what are we going to do for the winner. We’re going to bring you into Dallas the day of the game and the very first thing, we’re going to sign you to an official NBA contract. And then we’re going to get you a uniform, put your name on the back, let you pick a number and then we’re going to take you to shootaround where you get to meet all the guys.
“We’ll bring you back for the game and at game time we’re going to put you in the layup line. You’re going to be out there showing your stuff. You’re going to get some jumpers up in front of the crowd, then we’ll put you on the bench for the game. And then during the game, we’re going to make sure you get to the free-throw line. And then during that free-throw shot, we’re going to have the entire crowd chant: MVP, MVP.”
The lucky winner will be chosen from people who contribute through the All-In Challenge – 100 percent of the donations raised through the game/auction will go directly to Feeding America, Meals On Wheels, World Central Kitchen and No Kid Hungry.
Individuals will get 10 entries into the contest for $10 donated, 25 for $25 donated, 100 for $50 donated and 200 for $100 donated.
During his video, Cuban also said that the lucky winner will have his stats posted on the mavs.com website and that he or she will be flown to the preseason game and receive a two-night hotel stay.
“All this for the winner,” he said. “So do it for the right reasons. Do it for a great cause. Accept that All-In Challenge.”
And, Cuban wasn’t done with his work trying to raise more money for the Covid-19 cause.
Speaking of challenges, he said: “I challenge Steve Ballmer of the Los Angeles Clippers and I challenge Michael Jordan of the Charlotte Hornets. Are you ready for the All-In Challenge.”
Cuban has been on the front line of raising awareness and funds for the fight against the coronavirus. He’s teamed with players to contribute $500,000 to help support healthcare workers among the many endeavors he has undertaken to support the fight against the virus.
He also has helped support local businesses by utilizing them for providing food to medical personnel who are working to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
