DALLAS – The NBA announced today that Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving has been selected as an injury replacement on Team Shaq in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game. Irving, who will replace fellow Maverick Anthony Davis, has now garnered NBA All-Star honors nine times in his career. The 74th NBA All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 16 at Chase Center in San Francisco, will feature a new four-team, three-game mini-tournament and will air at 7 p.m. CT on TNT.
Irving (6-2, 191) is averaging 24.1 points (16th in the NBA), 4.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 36.3 minutes in 42 starts this season. He is shooting 47.5% (369-777 FG) from the field, 40.7% (120-295 3FG) from beyond the arc (34th in the league) and 90.1% (154-171 FT) from the foul line (fourth in the league). Irving is the only player averaging over 20.0 points per game while shooting at least 47.5% from the field, 40.0% from 3-point range and 90.0% from the free-throw line in 2024-25.
The 32-year-old is set to make his ninth All-Star appearance (2013-15, 2017-19, 2021, 2023, 2025), his second with the Mavericks. In 2023, Irving started for Team LeBron at NBA All-Star 2023 in Salt Lake City, where he scored a Mavericks All-Star Game record (career-high) 32 points to go along with a career-high 15 assists.
Irving was originally acquired by Dallas along with Markieff Morris from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2029 first-round pick and two future second-round picks on Feb. 6, 2023. He later signed with Dallas on July 7, 2023.
