DALLAS – Dallas Mavericks forward Harrison Barnes will continue his busy offseason when he’ll participate in the NBA Africa Game 2018 on Aug. 4 in Pretoria, South Africa.
Barnes will be a member of Team World who will be competing against Team Africa. Some of Barnes’ teammates include DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors, Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks, Hassan Whiteside of the Miami Heat, Danilo Gallinari of the Los Angeles Clippers and Rudy Gay of the San Antonio Spurs.
That group will play against a Team Africa squad that includes Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Serge Ibaka (Toronto Raptors), Bismack Biyombo (Orlando Magic), Al-Farouq Aminu (Portland Trail Blazers), Cheick Diallo (New Orleans Pelicans), Evan Fournier (Orlando Magic), Pascal Siakam (Toronto Raptors) and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (Philadelphia 76ers).
More players and the coaches will be announced at a later date. And tickets will be available for purchase on June 15 at Computicket.com.
Team Africa consists of players born in Africa or with direct family ties to the continent. Team World is comprised of players from the rest of the world.
Barnes, who is currently in China doing clinics and promoting basketball and the Mavs’ two preseason games against Philadelphia in China this fall, averaged 18.9 points and 6.1 rebounds this season for Dallas.
