DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks will be without the services of two of their top players for awhile.

Forward Harrison Barnes will be sidelined for seven to 10 days with a strained right hamstring, and guard J. J. Barea is sidelined indefinitely with a strained left hamstring.

Coach Rick Carlisle said Barnes will miss Saturday’s preseason opener at American Airlines Center against the Beijing Ducks. He also said Barnes will miss the two preseason games in China – Oct. 5 and Oct. 8 – against the Philadelphia 76ers.

“Harrison tweaked his hamstring yesterday, so he’s going to miss some time,” Carlisle said. “Barea has a little bit of a hamstring issue. He missed a few days of contact.”

The Mavs will leave for China on Monday and return on Oct. 9 at 2 a.m. They also will host Charlotte on Oct. 12, but it is not known if Barnes will be available to play in that game.

“No timetable, but he’ll be out for a while,” Carlisle said. “I don’t have any kind of even estimated timetable on when he’ll be back.”

As far Barea’s return to the court.

“I don’t know exactly the timetable,” Carlisle said. “But he’ll be back before Harrison.”
