MIAMI – As he sat in one of the baseline chairs at AmericanAirlines Arena following the Dallas Mavericks’ shootaround on Thursday morning, Tim Hardaway Jr. was pondering his immediate future.

Prior to the Mavs’ Mar. 21 game at Sacramento, the Mavs announced that Hardaway would be sidelined for the rest of the season with a left tibia stress reaction. Beyond that, Hardaway told Mavs.com that surgery is not an option involving his injury.

“A lot of tests, a lot of different scenarios right now,” Hardaway said. “I’m just focusing on my team right now and we’ll make a decision after the season to see what goes on moving forward.

“Like I said, we’ve got to run tests, get more MRI’s, more X-rays here and there, and see where we’ll go from there.”

Meanwhile, this past Tuesday the Miami Heat retired the jersey of Dallas native Chris Bosh and hung it up into the AAA rafters. The only other Miami players’ jersey the Heat have retired are Shaquille O’Neal, Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway Sr.

Hardaway Jr. was a senior at Palmetto High School in Miami when his dad’s No. 10 jersey was retired by the Heat on Oct. 28, 2009.

“It was good being able to just to see one of his dreams become a reality,” Hardaway Jr. said. “He gave his heart and soul to this (Heat) franchise.

“And just to be part of it and be part of a team with (Jamal) Mashburn, (Dan) Majerle), P.J. Brown, Mourning, it was a great team that (Heat coach) Pat (Riley) had, and it was awesome just to see him flourish in that and finally get his jersey retired.”
