Job Title: Community Relations & Mavs Foundation Coordinator
Department: Community Relations and Mavs Foundation/Marketing & Communications
Status: Full-time
Reports to: Director of Community Relations & Mavs Foundation

Community Relations & Mavs Foundation Coordinator is responsible for managing a variety of community relation programs and Mavs Foundation efforts, while working closely with internal teams and external partners to meet business objectives.

Essential Elements and Responsibilities:

Community Relations:

  • Oversee and manage the Dallas Mavericks Community Ticket Block program by coordinating with local nonprofit groups throughout the season to fulfill ticket donations, track attendance and prepare all necessary financial paperwork and records.
  • Assist in fulfilling all league mandated NBA Cares initiatives including education programs, Hoops for Troops, Mavs FIT, NBA Green, Season of Giving and all relatable Mavs programming.
  • Collaborate with community based organizations and programs that align with department strategy & Mavs brand, ensuring maximum positive exposure for department and organization.
  • Work with Director of Community Relations and Mavs Foundation to create new community initiatives and pitch programs to Corporate Sales department, ensuring Mavs partner support & opportunities to grow Mavs community outreach
  • Assist with updating and recapping all community outreach and events through mavs.com, game day Tipoff program, in-game videos, annual Community Impact Report, etc.

Foundation:

  • Assist with administration of the Mavs Foundation, ensuring the integrity of the mission statement
  • Raise public awareness about the Mavs Foundation, its mission, and reach in the community
  • Assist with grant applications, nonprofit correspondence and Mavs Foundation board meetings
  • Assist with all fundraisers, including but not limited to: Mavs Ball, Tipoff Luncheon, 50/50 Raffle, North Texas Giving Day and Silent Auctions
  • Attend nonprofit fundraisers and events, nurturing relationships with organizations & building donor base for Mavs Foundation endeavors

General:

  • Work alongside Mavericks Ticket Sales Department to manage and fulfill donated tickets, financial reports and attendance records through Community Ticket Block and other donated tickets
  • Assist with creating new and impactful nonprofit and public partnerships, building relationships both nationally and locally to maximize internal and external storytelling opportunities
  • Build relationships with school districts, city, police and community organizations within 75 miles of American Airlines Center
  • Represent Mavs Foundation & Community Relations at outreach and special events
  • Assist with all team autograph signings
  • Assist with managing Community Relations & Foundation messaging among all channels: web, CR’s social sites, media, etc.

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in a related field, preferably sport management, public relations, journalism, nonprofit management or marketing
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to interact with all types of people, including staff and senior-level management, professional and elite athletes, members of media, corporate representatives and children
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and development
  • Fundraising experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and highly confidential matters related to organization and Foundation

Junior Designer

Status: Part-time – Hourly. Potential full-time status.

The Dallas Mavericks seek a Junior Designer to join the Marketing department’s in-house creative team, communicating and developing the voice of the Dallas Mavericks brand through the production of a wide array of digital and print materials. The designer is responsible for implementing effective design solutions for all advertising, branding, and game collateral materials. The Dallas Mavericks creative team owns the Mavericks brand by maintaining a cohesive visual marketing identity across all design platforms. Responsibilities:

  • Design layouts for print, digital, out-of-home and apparel
  • Manage and create corporate sponsor and ticket sales materials

You’re a video guru with a passion for basketball, and a self-starter capable of producing video content for the Dallas Mavericks as well as other Mark Cuban Companies.

  • Conceive, write, produce, film, and edit short video content for web, social media, and broadcast
  • Collaborate with a team of 3-5 other creatives to coordinate the production of multiple video projects per week, while also being capable of working autonomously
  • Report on success of online content distribution to inform overall content production strategy

50/50 Raffle Project Manager

The Mavs Foundation, the charitable arm of the Dallas Mavericks, is seeking a dependable, enthusiastic, highly-motivated, and hard–working individual to manage the staffing and executive of the 50/50 Raffle during the 2017-2018 Season.

Reports to: Mavs Foundation Director
Position: Seasonal Part-Time

Summary of Role:
This individual will be the driving sales and operational force behind the staffing and execution of the 50/50 Raffle benefiting the Mavs Foundation. To learn about the 50/50 Raffle, visit: www.mavs.com/5050raffle/

The ideal individual will be highly organized and sales-oriented with a competitive spirit, a leader of people, able to work effectively with executive level staffers, as well as hourly-waged workers. This individual will be responsible for all staffing of the Raffle including recruitment, training and motivation of hourly sellers; sales and promotional strategies; accounting and financial reporting; and is the liaison between the team Foundation Director and the technology vendor.

Expectations of the Project Manager:

  • Implement recruitment efforts, hiring and management of direct reports including Raffle Supervisors and Raffle Sales Representatives on behalf of the Mavs Foundation
  • All training and instruction for game night 50/50 Raffle staff, including attendance at all Dallas Mavericks home games (41-42 games)
  • Manage game night sellers and oversee all 50/50 Raffle execution, including raffle sales, tracking, winner selection and the 50/50 prize claim process
  • Execute and make improvements to all game night policies and procedures with operational objectives
  • Scheduling of nightly game night 50/50 Raffle Foundation staff
  • Staff evaluations and incentives on a nightly basis to insure best quality customer service and sales results
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the 50/50 Raffle software and hardware technology with the ability to problem solve quickly and effectively
  • Cash reconciliation and reporting responsibilities on a nightly basis
  • Establishing best practices through research with other experienced teams
  • Special projects as needed

The Project Manager for the 50/50 Raffle Implementation will ideally have the following Project Management Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally with a an emphasis in sales, marketing, sports management, business or event management
  • 5 years’ experience in leading a large group of employees or volunteers in sales or event-related sports field. 50/50 Raffle experience preferred
  • Energetic with the ability to naturally manage both up and down organizational hierarchies
  • Excellent oral, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a stressful and hectic game night environment
  • Non-traditional working hours are necessary for this role while teams are in market. Flexibility with schedule is anticipated and expected while teams are playing out of town
  • Must be able to attend all home regular season and playoff games for the Dallas Mavericks during the 2017-18 season
  • A passion for sports and a comfortable knowledge of the working environment in a professional sports arena

50/50 Raffle Sales Representative – Mavs Foundation

Full/Part: Part Time, Seasonal
Reports to: 50/50 Raffle Sales Supervisor
Compensation: Hourly

Job Summary:
This position will be the driving sales force behind the 50/50 Raffle Program benefiting the Mavs Foundation. This seasonal position will start in September/October and run through the conclusion of the playoffs for the Dallas Mavericks. A similar position is available with the Dallas Stars Foundation where 50/50 staff are able to work both Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars games.
The 50/50 Raffle takes place at all home games of the Dallas Mavericks in accordance with Texas law, where one lucky winner will receive 50% of the cash pot (after allowable expenses) from that night’s event, while the Mavs Foundation will receive the other 50% to be dedicated to their ongoing charitable efforts. The ideal candidate will be a punctual, hard-working and enthusiastic salesperson with excellent communications skills. This employee will be responsible for the nightly sales of raffle tickets to help benefit the charities and programs the Mavs Foundations supports.

Responsibilities:

  • Game night selling of raffle tickets to Dallas Mavericks fans within the American Airlines Center in either a stationary kiosk location or as a roaming sales representative
  • Accepting and accounting for large sums of cash on a nightly basis
  • Communication of the 50/50 raffle rules and procedures clearly to potential customers
  • Exceptional customer service and enthusiastic promotion of the 50/50 Raffle and its impact on the Mavs Foundation.


Qualifications:

  • High school graduate (College graduate preferred)
  • Energetic personality with some level sales experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be able to stand and walk for long periods of time in a hectic sports arena environment
  • Non-traditional working hours are required for this position while teams are in market. Must be able to attend at least 70% of all Dallas Mavericks home games
  • Each game night commitment will be approximately 4-5 hours total, beginning 2 hours before the start of the game and concluding during the 4th quarter
  • Must represent the team exceptionally both in appearance and conduct at all times
  • A passion for sports and/or charity work with a comfortable knowledge of the working environment in a professional sports arena

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic leader of people with great communication skills, while also detail-oriented and quick on their feet for problem solving and technical issues.

  • Assist in all training and instruction for game night sales staff
  • Scheduling and communication with nightly game night sales staff
  • Staff incentives program and evaluations on a nightly basis to insure best quality customer service and sales results
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the 50/50 Raffle software and hardware technology with the ability to problem solve quickly and effectively
  • Cash handling and tracking with oversight by 50/50 Raffle Manager
  • Oversee and enforce the consistency of Dallas Mavericks, Mavs Foundation and American Airlines center branding in all public forums
