Dirk Nowitzki and Peyton Manning share many things in common. They’re both champions, future Hall of Famers, franchise-changers, and they both helped revolutionize their respective sports. Heck, they were even both drafted in 1998.

But they also aren’t exactly the fleetest of foot.

Ever the self-deprecator, Nowitzki took to Twitter last night to turn a locker room conversation into a public discourse.

Twitter has been responsible for dissemination of information, launching revolutions across the world, and opening a conversation We the People need to have. Consider this one of them.

It didn’t take long for Chandler Parsons, one of Nowitzki’s better friends on the team, to start up a war of words with Manning’s Broncos teammate Von Miller and voice his thoughts.

Clearly, this is something we want — no, NEED — to see. Who would say no to this? (Other than Rick Carlisle and Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak, that is.) These are two titans with nothing left to prove — except that one isn’t the slowest sprinter around.

For now, all we can do is project, analyze, and predict. Personally, I would go with the Blonde Bomber here. He had four dunks last season (five if you include his unforgettable alley-oop at the All-Star Game). What more proof do you need? The guy is a monster. Manning, on the other hand, is about to becoming the NFL’s all-time career passing yards leader, but his bio will never include the word “scrambler.”

@dallasmavs has started a Twitter poll to see who would be favored, and early returns have Dirk taking the title as The Faster Sprinter Between Two Guys Known For Other Legendary Accomplishments. If you haven’t voted yet, do so. Let your voice be heard.
