Hoop Camp

Campers will learn important fundamentals, sportsmanship, and enjoy the excitement of the game in a fun atmosphere at Mavs Academy Hoop Camp! They’ll also have the opportunity to win prizes and meet some special guests.

The Mavs Academy’s number one priority is the safety of our campers, staff and community. Mavs Academy will continue to monitor the guidelines from various government orders, health experts and the NBA, to develop appropriate protocols (which may include social distancing, mask wearing, and sanitization) for our camps.

A typical day at hoop camp

8:30 AM

Check in Begins

Campers will check in with their guardian(s) and receive a camp jersey for the week.

9:00 - 9:10 AM

Welcome

Coach introductions and safety protocols for camp.

9:10 - 9:25 AM

Stretching/BIG STEP

Campers will Warm Up the RITE Way & work on their defensive agility using this fun and energetic drill.

9:25 - 9:55 AM

Full Court Drills

Campers warm up for the day with agility and ball handling.

9:55 - 11:10 AM

Water Break

Hydration time.

10:15 AM - 11:00 AM

Station Rotations

Campers will learn the fundamentals of basketball at different stations.

  1. BEEEF: Works on shooting form (Balance, Eyes, Elbow, Extension, Follow Through)
  2. Shooting: Campers learn how to shoot working off of the dribble
  3. Individual Offense: Campers work on dribble penetration and getting separation to score

11:10 - 11:25 AM

Contest Demonstrations

Coaches will demonstrate the daily contest:

  • Knock Out
  • 3 Line Knockout
  • Team Knockout
  • Around the world
  • Team 21
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Morning Rotations

Campers will be broken into three seperate groups and rotate through the following:

  • Campers will play 5v5
  • Campers will take a break to eat lunch
  • Campers will watch Mavs Highlights and Videos
1:00 - 1:30 PM

Teach 3v3

Coaches will demonstrate spacing and movement to play 3v3

1:30 - 3:00 PM

Afternoon Rotations

Campers will be broken into three seperate groups and rotate through the following:

  • Campers will play 5v5
  • Coaches will speak with campers about basketball related topics and life skills
3:00 - 3:35 PM

3v3 (Whole Gym)

Campers will play 3v3 basketball as a group

3:35 - 3:40 PM

Are you preparing to try out for your middle/high school team this fall? Our devleopment camp is for more serious players and focuses on taking your game to the next level.  Typically for ages 11-18, at Development Camp you’ll learn more advanced skills, increase your basketball IQ and get prepared for middle school and high school try-outs in the fall.
