The Dallas Mavericks and Chick-fil-A DFW are excited to partner for the Behind-the-Mask campaign, which honors extraordinary doctors, nurses, and medical professionals across the community. These hometown heroes were selected because they answered the call during the COVID-19 pandemic and ensured the safety of thousands of lives during this time of crisis.

We are thrilled to announce our second Behind-the-Mask hometown hero: Dennis Hamilton, Service Line Coordinator, with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine.

Mr. Hamilton was selected because he embraced the incredible challenges presented during the coronavirus pandemic with enthusiasm, perseverance and an endless desire to serve as a champion for the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center. He has endured great tragedy in his own personal life and used his own life experiences to inject a spirit of hope and compassion to people across the North Texas community.

The Dallas Mavericks and Chick-fil-A are honored to share Dennis’ story and thank him for serving as an example to the North Texas community.

Here’s more on Dennis Hamilton:
Dennis Hamilton was born in Cicero, Ill., and arrived in Dallas-Fort Worth almost a decade ago. He has served as a police officer, firefighter, and emergency management officer during his long career in the public service sector. Dennis and his late wife moved to Texas seven years ago and accepted a position as service line coordinator at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine. He accepted the position to move his wife to a warmer climate as she battled cancer. Dennis stayed near his wife until she ultimately passed away in 2015. The couple share one son together that followed in his father’s footsteps and serves as a police officer. Dennis remarried in September 2019 and gained a stepdaughter who lives in California. He is the proud grandfather of a handsome, cherished and deeply loved toddler boy.

Outside of work, Dennis owns his own fencing business and enjoys spending time with his family when away from work. He is a huge fan of college football and proud supporter of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center selected Dennis for this reason:
Dennis has been a true standout in the emergency department during COVID-19. He is Mr. Dependable. Serving as an emergency management officer in the past, Dennis is always thinking two or three steps ahead. He has been instrumental in turning emergency department patient rooms into negative pressure rooms to ensure COVID patients can treated in the safest environment for our team. He worked tirelessly to ensure the emergency department was well stocked with PPE. Dennis makes himself available 24/7 to answer any questions regarding PPE. He is innovative and implements ideas quickly and efficiently. Dennis makes himself available as a sounding board for all team members and offers words of encouragement when times are tough.

On behalf of the Mavericks and Chick-fil-A – congratulations Dennis!
