Dallas Mavs Take Time to Hoop it Up with Dallas Youth
November 26, 2014 (DALLAS, TX) 75 kids from Jubilee Park had quite the field trip to American Airlines Center yesterday. Outfitted in Mavs Turkey Dunk t-shirts and greeted by the ManiAACs and Mavs Dancers, the kids sat around the practice court eagerly anticipating the arrival of their favorite Mavs stars. Greg Nared, Director of Camps & Community Basketball, introduced the incoming players, and the kids squealed in excitement as # 41 entered the gym.

The players led groups of kids in drills and games for an hour before an early Thanksgiving dinner was served by Nick & Sam’s Chef/Partner Samir Dhurandhar and Executive chef Wil Larson. And just as they thought the dinner might be over, Champ the Mavs mascot strolled in to dine with the kids, making them giggle and cheer and clap for their favorite team.
Throughout NBA Cares Season of Giving, the NBA and its teams and players are out in their communities hosting hundreds of charitable events across the country in an effort to brighten the holidays for thousands of children and families. The Mavericks donated their time today to celebrate Thanksgiving with the children in Dallas who needed it the most.

A special thank you goes to to Albertsons and Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse for their generous support of this event.
