November 7, 2014 (DALLAS, TX) – Wednesday, the Dallas Mavericks staff, Dancers, ManiAACs and members of the Army, Navy and Air Force packed bags for the Food 4 Kids program, a Dallas Mavs Foundation recipient, at the North Texas Food Bank as a part of the NBA and Department of Defense’s Commitment to Service initiative. This program serves nearly 11,000 chronically hungry children in North Texas, and provides backpacks full of nonperishable, kid-friendly food for them to take home on Friday afternoons. Each bag in the Food 4 Kids program represents more than 60% of a child’s nutritional needs over the weekend!

With 50 participants working on the assembly line, the group was able to assemble 780 boxes of Food 4 Kids bags that will go into 5,460 backpacks.

“The North Texas Food Bank is truly grateful to benefit from the partnership between the NBA and the Department of Defense,” said Aaron Chambers, Senior Manager of Corporate Engagement for the North Texas Food Bank. “The Dallas Mavericks have been a tremendous supporter of NTFB for 15 years, and today, the Dallas Mavericks’ staff and entertainers, along with members of the armed forces are demonstrating their commitment to service by volunteering their time at NTFB- Thank you!”

The Dallas Mavericks and North Texas Food Bank would like to thank PlayStation for their support of this initiative.
